Check out The Rancho Riding club began on a shoestring budget in 1945. Spearheaded by Hollywood director John Robertson, the club started with a few families who would gather together at the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club for meetings and moonlight rides. In the early days, fundraising efforts consisted mostly of potluck dinners.

But Robertson had grander visions. He believed that children who grow up with horses and are taught to respect and care for them, live fuller and happier lives.
So a year later, the club acquired the 11-acre property from the Santa Fe Irrigation District on Rambla de Las Flores which it still calls home today. Within a decade, the club built up its ranks to over 100 members and constructed a world-class equestrian facility that continues to host horse shows and summer camps.
The rest, as they say, is history.
